MOUs signed with STS in Alberta and No. 2 High School in Guangdong

Purcell Collegiate School (PCS) of Kimberley, British Columbia is pleased to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with No. 2 High School of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. This much-anticipated sister-school agreement is being engaged in concert with PCS’s Alberta-based partner school, Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS). The signing ceremonies took place on Thursday, December 14 at STS and Friday, December 15 at PCS. The MOUs articulate an engagement framework for the schools to partner on a variety of mutually-beneficial exchange activities for students, teachers, and administrators under the Guangdong-BC and Guangdong-Alberta sister-province agreements.

ABOUT THE MOU FRAMEWORK
The MOUs recognize that British Columbia, Alberta, and Guangdong have long-established social, cultural and economic ties, and that the provinces are committed to furthering these relationships through cooperation and exchange in the area of education; that BC, Alberta, and Guangdong agree on the importance of strengthening education relations as the best means of building global and cultural understanding and fostering solidarity between peoples and countries; and that provinces believe that that international education mobility programs contribute to the academic, social, cultural, and professional development of students, teachers, and administrators.

These MOUs create a framework for collaboration and cooperation in the form of sister-school agreements between the three parties focused on but not limited to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and as the founding members of Canada-China Sister Schools Network.
